Reading aloud - spelling - writing, kegiatan english literacy kelas 1A

 


English literacy adalah salah satu kegiatan morning routine yang ada di SD Edu Global School. Kegiatan ini rutin dilaksanakan setiap hari selasa. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan anak-anak SD Edu Global dibiasakan untuk berliterasi bahasa inggris. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mendukung kurikulum sekolah yaitu penggunaan cambridge curriculum untuk mata pelajaran math dan english.


Pelaksanaan english literacy di kelas 1A dikemas ke dalam 3 kegiatan yaitu reading aloud, spelling dan writing. Kegiatan tersebut, bertujuan untuk membangun kemampuan membaca anak. Selain itu, anak juga dituntut untuk menguasai ejaan dari kata yang dibacanya. Hal ini dilakukan agar anak juga mampu menuliskan kosa kata yang dibacanya. 


Dalam kegiatan reading aloud, anak-anak kelas 1A secara klasikal memilih satu judul buku yang akan dibaca nyaring secara klasikal. Setelah membaca nyaring secara klasikal. Secara individu anak-anak diminta untuk membaca nyaring buku tersebut. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menguji kemampuan membaca anak secara individu.


Kemudian, dalam kegiatan spelling anak-anak diminta untuk mengeja kata yang disebutkan oleh guru. Tentunya kosa kata yang disebutkan adalah kata yang sudah dibaca dalam buku pada kegiatan sebelumnya. Melalui kegiatan ini, anak-anak diharapkan tidak hanya tahu cara membaca kosa kata dalam bahasa inggris saja. Namun juga diharapkan mampu mengingat ejaannya. 

Sehingga di kegiatan terakhir yaitu writing, siswa mampu menuliskan kosa kata yang telah dibacanya pada kegiatan sebelumnya. Dalam kegiatan ini, guru akan mendiktekan kosa kata yang telah dipelajari pada kegiatan sebelumnya. Kemudian, anak diminta untuk menuliskannya. Jumlah kosa kata yang biasanya didiktekan yaitu 5-10 kosa kata. 


Diharapkan melalui kegiatan english literacy ini, anak-anak dapat memperkaya kosa katanya, mengetahui cara membacanya, mengetahui ejaannya dan mampu menuliskan katanya.

"Menyekolahkan anak di EGS itu keputusan kami yg paling tepat dan sesuai dgn visi parenting kami. Kurikulum EGS tidak hanya fokus pada akademik tapi juga talent dan pemahaman agama anak.
